SSM Health Illinois has announced it will once again suspend visits at its care sites, including Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon and St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
SSM says the restrictions are necessary due to an increase in the spread of COVID-19 throughout the region.
Beginning Friday, no visitors will be allowed except under certain circumstances, including end-of-life situations and when a visitor is essential for the patient’s emotional well-being and care.
Obstetrics patients will be allowed one person to offer support. COVID and patients under investigation for COVID will still be under a strict, no visitors policy. Clinics and emergency rooms will allow one to two parents or guardians for pediatric patients based upon the care environment.
The measures are meant to ensure the continued safety of patients, visitors, physicians, staff, and communities.
SSM Health appreciates the public’s cooperation during this time.
