The final person charged with the December 2019 murder of 39-year-old Clender Edmond at a home just east of Central City has entered a negotiated plea.

Krystal Scerba pleaded guilty to a robbery charge in exchange for the first-degree murder trial being dropped. She received a four and a half year prison term to be followed by two years on parole. Scerba also received credit for 342 days served in the Marion County Jail.

Scerba provided police with their initial information that led them to the murder after she had been picked up by Centralia Police on unrelated drug charges. In exchange, charges in the drug case were not filed against her. Testimony at the trial of co-defendant Manzel Duncan indicated Scerba had helped get Edmond out of the Industrial Tavern to the home of Cardell Thomas where Edmond was allegedly shot and his body later burned.

Duncan, who was identified as the triggerman during his trial, was sentenced to 55 years in prison after being found guilty by a Marion County Jury of first-degree murder. Thomas pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Blake Shahan received a 17-year prison term after pleading guilty to murder. Darleedria “Bubbles” Flippen received a six-year prison term after entering an Alford plea to a reduced charge of robbery.
