There will be contested races for Mayor of Salem and Centralia.
Salem City Councilman Nic Farley and Brock Waggoner who has been critical of the city council on several issues both were in line at eight this morning at Salem City hall to file petitions.
In Centralia, both Bryan Kuder and Herb Williams have filed for Mayor. Kuder was elected Mayor two years ago, but the city council refused to seat him claiming he did not live in the city limits. Kuder is still fighting the council’s decision in Marion County Court. Herb Williams who was appointed to fill Kuder’s term until the April election is now seeking to fill the final two years of the term.
Three candidates were on hand when Centralia City Hall opened Monday morning to file for the two open city council seats. They are Jeffrey Castellari, Jason Hunter, and Robert “Rob” Jackson. The two incumbents, Howard Jones and Andre Marshall, have both told WJBD-WSIQ news they will NOT seek another term.
In Salem, incumbent Jim Koehler as well as Neal Canon were on hand Monday morning to file petitions for the two open city council seats.
Filing continues all of this week and Monday of next week.
The municipal election will be in April. If enough candidates file, there will be a February primary.
