As COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to rise in Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker is urging everyone to stay home as much as possible and wear a mask if you go out.
He says hospitals are filling up and staff is exhausted with the recent rapid increases.
“As of our most current data, we are currently averaging more than 5,200 patients fighting COVID-19 in our hospitals. That’s 400 more individuals than at our spring high and a 70-percent increase in the past two weeks alone”
Governor Prizker says other states are seeing the same trends, meaning there will likely be no health care workers from surrounding areas that can be called in to help here.
There were 11,632 new cases of the coronavirus disease reported statewide on Monday along with 37 additional deaths.
The statewide positivity rate is now at 12.5-percent. The Southern Illinois Region has a positivity rate of 13.9-percent for the seven days ending November 13th. The Marion County rate has jumped to 17.3-percent. The Metro-East Region has a positivity rate of 16.3-percent. The East-Central Region is 14-percent.
