A 46-year-old Salem man was injured when his car collided with a semi at the U.S. 51 and Wabash Avenue intersection on the south side of Centralia.
State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that a semi driven by 47-year-old Joshua McClellan of Rothbury, Michigan was traveling eastbound on South Wabash attempting to merge onto US 51 northbound when a car driven by 46-year-old Tony Guard of Salem was traveling southbound on U.S. 51approaching the intersection. The semi failed to yield to Guard, whose car struck the truck in the rear axle. Both units came to a stop in the intersection.
Guard was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. McClellan escaped injury. He was ticketed for failure to yield when turning left.
The crash occurred at 5:45 Friday evening.
