Both the Salem Grade School and Odin School Districts have announced they are extending full remote learning until Monday, November 30th.
In both cases, the move is being made because of the high number of COVID-19 cases and both staff and students on quarantine due to being close contacts.
Salem Grade School Superintendent Dr. Leslie Foppe says it was a difficult decision to make, but feels they need to give time for those with COVID to rest and heal and those exposed to recover. The full remote learning will continue through Tuesday, November 24th. The district was then scheduled to be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Superintendent Jeff Humes in a letter to Odin families says the number of quarantined students at Odin Public School continues to increase, although the number actually with COVID-19 isn’t high. He’s encouraging everyone to make smart choices, including on weekends and when not in school as it directly impacts the positive numbers. Humes says if the numbers continue to trend up, the full remote learning could be extended even further.
