Corn and soybean harvesting is starting to wrap up as we hear in the weekly crop report.
State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says it was a warm, dry week in Illinois, giving farmers plenty of time in the field.
“Corn harvest advanced to 95-percent finished compared to 67-percent one year ago and 89-percent for the five-year average. Soybeans are now 96-percent harvested compared to 84 last year and 93-percent normally,” said Schleusener.
97% of winter wheat has been planted and 90% emerged. Average statewide topsoil moisture decreased to 6% very short, 25% short, 67% adequate and 2% surplus.
