Charlene “Corky” Robson, 91, of Centralia, lost a brief but brave battle with cancer on Friday, November 6, 2020, at Fireside House of Centralia. Charlene lived in Pana until 1968 before moving to Centralia, where she worked as a purchasing agent at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Greenview Ladies League. Charlene was an avid golfer and was an artist, primarily oil painting. She was a world traveler, especially in Europe. In her later years, she enjoyed cruises, both Caribbean and transatlantic. She also enjoyed senior yoga and all the members of the group.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charlene’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
Charlene is survived by her daughter, Suzi (Jim) Quick, Mt. Vernon, IL; siblings: Doris Connors, Bellevue, WA; John (Charlotte) Wafford and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Gene Wafford, Audrey Thomson & Helen Westphal.
She was born on October 13, 1929, in Detroit, MI to the late John & Susan (McCleary) Wafford. Charlene married William Robson on March 28, 1947, in Pana and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1993.
