2024 04/05 – Vineta J. Flanigan

Vineta J. Flanigan, 73, of Centralia, passed away, on Friday, March 29, 2024, in Good Samaritan Hospital of Mt. Vernon.

Vineta came into this world on January 18, 1951, in Benton, IL. She was the daughter of Alfred Stanley and Katherine (Fulk) Stanley. She married the love of her life Gregory Flanigan on January 30, 1993, in Orient, IL and he survives her in Centralia,

In addition to husband Greg Flanigan of 31 years, Vineta leaves behind her sons: Rob Miller and wife Laurie, Rodney Miller, Randy Miller and wife Deanna, and Kevin Miller; two daughters: Michelle R. Hicks and Ami Finley and husband Matt; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother: Oley Stanley of Benton; three sisters: Liz Hawkins, Florene Treadway, and Nora Craig; many nieces and nephews; and several close friends.

When Vineta passed on, she was reunited with her parents: Alfred and Katherine Stanley; three brothers: Robert, Bud, and Loyd Stanley; and four sisters: Minnie Jones, Alfreda Zimmer, Georgia Rich, and Robin Stanley.

Vineta was a bright spark with an explosive personality. This feisty spitfire was never afraid to speak her mind. She had such a big heart. Vineta just simply enjoyed helping others. She worked as a beautician for 32 years. She also was the Dietary Manager for Fireside Nursing Home for several years. She was a member of the Centralia Moose Lodge. She had a strong Christian faith and attended Fouts Christian Church. She had a love for music and especially enjoyed her husband’s band The Sound Waves. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandbabies. Those who knew her will miss her and her commentary dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service for Vineta Flanigan will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev. Joey Rhodes, ret. officiating. Friends may gather before the service for a visitation on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
