2024 03/30 – Eileen Gay Spangler

Eileen Gay Spangler, 94, of Texico, passed away at 7:57 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at her home.

She was born March 2, 1930, in Carbon Hill, Alabama, the daughter of Wallace Joshua and Nellie May (Sparks) Estell. On September 19, 1953, in Joliet, Illinois, she married Redus Spangler, and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2009.

Eileen was a member of Donoho Prairie Christian Church and worked for many years as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by three daughters, Diane Echols and husband Russell of Texico, Janette Cates and husband Carey of Mt. Vernon, and Nancy Spangler of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; grandchildren, Rob Echols and wife Jennifer of Mt. Vernon, Lori Graham and husband Travis of Nason, Ian Cates of St. Louis, and Ben Cates of Salem; great-grandchildren, Jady Echols of Mt.Vernon, and Rylee Echols of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Jack Estell of Alabama, and Roger Estell of Georgia; and sisters, Shirley Hamilton of Texas, Carolyn Green of Iuka, and Judy Estell of Illinois.
In addition to her husband, Redus Spangler, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Buck Estell, Gene Estell, and Charles Estell; and sister, Sue Short.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Spangler will be held at noon, on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Donoho Prairie Christian Church, with Randy Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Donoho Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at Donoho Prairie Christian Church.
