Eric “Chili” Childers, age 37 of Salem, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburg, Indiana on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. “Chili” loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and boating, but most of all enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends. He was employed with County Materials in Salem.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Rusty Courson officiating. Due to recent health mitigations, masks will be required and social distancing will be enforced. Memorial contributions can be made to the family and can be received at the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Anthony “T.J.” Childers Jr. and wife Laura of Salem; nieces and nephews, Callie, Ella, Macy, and Aceson; girlfriend, Brittany Smith and her children, Jada, Keiley and Maddie of Salem; grandparents, Paul “Chili” Childers and wife Helen of Salem; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Eric was born on July 1, 1983 in Centralia, the son of Anthony and Melissa (Welch) Childers and they survive in Salem. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Margaret Welch.
