Sue Booth, 77, of Marion passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Parkway Manor in Marion. She was born on September 22, 1946, the daughter of Raymond Wesley and Freda Imogene (Shanafelt) Parker in Salem, IL. She married Bobbie Belcher in Patoka in 1965, and two children were born of this union. She later married Jerry Booth in Paducah, Kentucky, in 2000, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors that will cherish precious memories of Sue include her beloved family, daughters, DeAnna (Brad) Herzog of Marion, and Lori (Justin) Flare of Marion; grandchildren, Joey (Katie) Groves, Megan Groves (Shane Roland), Katy (Evan) McCree, Bo Harris, Landon Howell, Brynnlee Flare; great-grandchildren, Harry, Porter, and Evie Mae; and she shared a special bond with her aunt and best friend, Linda Stein.

Along with her husband, Jerry Booth, Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Imogene Parker; and her brother, Wes Parker.

Sue was a proud graduate of Patoka High School, Class of 1964. She was a wonderful, very present mother to her daughters, raising her family and making her home in Marion. She had a keen sense for others in need, making sure to generously donate to children in her daughters’ classes and others who needed encouragement. Sue was organized and had amazing attention to detail, which served her well in her jobs at Booth Transfer where she worked in the office and helped with the packing of homes, and later Sue entered data for Blue Cross Blue Shield. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially time spent with her family. Sue bought a pool so all the family could gather for fun times in the sun. She was the best host, gathering her family for Easter, Thanksgiving, and birthday dinners at her home, where they were sure to enjoy Grandma Sue’s mouthwatering deviled eggs and scalloped potatoes. Sue was a lovely lady inside and out, had a generous heart, supported her family with love and awesome advice, and her love and words of wisdom will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy, Il with Pastor John Holst officiating. Sue’s family would like to extend a special thanks for the loving care she received from the staff at Parkway Manor. They were a true blessing to Sue’s family. Memorials may be made in Sue’s honor to Patoka City Cemetery.
