The Marion County Health Department is reporting 28 new positive cases of COVID-19 over the weekend and Monday.
Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says 13 of the cases are from community spread and the other 15 are from household or close contacts. Four are from one long-term care facility which is the same one that had a large number of positive cases last week that has not yet publically identified itself. Mallow notes two cases are school age, but luckily both were not at school during their infectious period. The positive cases ran from a boy under 13, two females in their teens to a female in her 90s. All are in isolation.
Mallow reports the county currently has 164 active cases. Sixteen are in the hospital and one is on a ventilator. 665 others have recovered, including 38 over the weekend and on Monday.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 95 new positive cases over the weekend and Monday. Some of the cases are part of an ongoing outbreak that has impacted both staff and inmates at the Centralia Correctional Center. At the last report, there were a total of 33 inmates and 11 staff testing positive with additional test results pending. Some of the other positive cases are from several long-term care facilities. 228 of those testing positive are currently on home isolation and eight are hospitalized. One Clinton County death over the weekend was earlier reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The Clay County Health Department is reporting two deaths last week have now been confirmed as COVID-19 related bringing the county’s death toll to 11. The department reports three additional deaths remain under investigation. There were 13 new cases over the weekend ranging in age from 20s to 70s. There will be free COVID testing at Beyond the Bell at 1010 West North Avenue in Flora from nine to five on Thursday.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 25 new cases over the past three days ranging in age from four under 13 to two males in their 80s. There are now 134 active cases in isolation.
The Washington County Health Department has seven confirmed cases since Friday ranging in age from their 40s to 60s. There are currently 14 active cases and one active case that is hospitalized.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 31 new confirmed cases since Friday. There are now 128 confirmed active cases.
The Wayne County Health Department is reporting four new cases of COVID-19 on Monday all in their 30s and 40s. There are now 78 active cases and five who are hospitalized.
