Ernest Taylor, 96, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:50 am October 18, 2020 at Nature Trail Health Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Mr. Taylor proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked as a postal clerk for many years. Delmar was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Delmar married Wanda (Russell) Taylor on July 13, 1947. In addition to his loving wife of seventy-three years, Delmar is survived by his son, Delmar Leon Taylor of Milton, Florida; daughter, Shirley J Thrasher and husband, Mike of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Russell Taylor, Richard Taylor, and Jeri Hudgens; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Madelyn, Aaron, Sloane, Campbell, Vaughn; and sister, Sue Mae Lane of Poseyville, Indiana.
He was born January 12, 1924 in Hamilton County, Illinois to the late Delbert and Maud (Thackery) Taylor. In addition to his parents, Delmar was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Talbert; brothers, Donald Taylor, Denzil Taylor; daughter-in-law, Jacque Taylor; and grandson, Zachary Thrasher.
