Donald Hall, 87, of Woodlawn, Illinois, went to meet his Lord and Savior at 10:40 pm October 17, 2020 at his residence in Woodlawn, Illinois. Mr. Hall was inducted in the Woodlawn High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was ordained as a Deacon in 1952 and served for many years. He worked as a farmer and for Illinois Railroad Car Shops. Donald belonged to Park Avenue Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Public Graveside Service will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 12:15 pm at IOOF Cemetery in Woodlawn, Illinois with Reverend Merle Fullerton and Reverend Mitch Flesch officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Donald’s honor to the Park Avenue Baptist Church or IOOF Cemetery in Woodlawn. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. In addition to his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Donald is survived by his son, David Hall and wife, Debbie of Pevely, Missouri; daughter, Carla Huskey of Woodlawn, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hall of Woodlawn, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Bryan Hall and wife, Alicia, Tracy Ritter and husband, Aaron, Bryce Hall, Tara Varady and husband, Randy, Jason Hall, Lori Carpenter, Jessica Jensen and husband, Mike; great-grandchildren, Blair Upchurch and husband, Shawn, Ethan Hall, Cade Ritter, Kendall Ritter, Raegan Varady, Kennedy Varady, Alayna Carpenter, Jaxon Carpenter, and Xander Jensen; great-great-grandchildren, Alexander Upchurch; sister, Ruth Ann Whitlock of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born November 8, 1932 in Woodlawn, Illinois to the late Charlie Burr and Hattie (Carver) Hall. Donald married Ima Jewell (Piercy) Hall on June 2, 1951 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his son, Bob Hall,; son-in-law, Larry Huskey; and sister, Lois Kennedy.
