Carolyn Lee Zurbriggen, 81, of Salem, peacefully passed away on February 28, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born on December 19, 1942, in Salem, Illinois, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Owen and Hilda (Marlow) Bisel. On July 14, 1960, she married the love of her life, Fred L. Zurbriggen, with whom she shared 63 beautiful years.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Zurbriggen; loving children, Tina Zurbriggen of Salem and Rick Zurbriggen and wife Evette of Fort Myers, Florida; siblings, Beverly Salisbury and husband Jim, Anita Petersen and husband Gary, Debby Lamb and husband David, Elaine Baker, Fred Bisel and wife Lynn, and Gail Beaty and husband Don; adored grandchildren, Rachelle Dunahee and husband J.L., Linzi Binnion-Robb and wife Annette, Derick Zurbriggen, and Kyle Zurbriggen and wife Elisabeth; precious great-grandchildren, Kaeleb, Christian, Aidan, Landin, Claire, and Piper; and dear sister-in-law, Judy Wilkins.
Carolyn’s life was marked by her dedication to family and her passion for caring for others. She enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the best Mamaw in the world. She worked as a cosmetologist, and she also spent her youth working alongside her father at the Bisel Motel in Salem. Carolyn’s love knew no bounds, extending to every stray cat in need of a home.
