There have been five new COVID-19 deaths across South Central Illinois reported on Wednesday, including two deaths in Jefferson County and one apiece in Clinton, Fayette, and Wayne Counties. The State Department of Public Health reports the death of a female in her 80s in Clinton County, which is the 23rd since the pandemic began. Jefferson County is reporting two more deaths. A female in her 90s who was a long term care patient and a male in his 60s. That brings the Jefferson County death toll to 35. Fayette County is reporting the death of a congregate-care facility resident where there has been an outbreak. This is the county’s tenth death. Wayne County is reporting their ninth death, but no other details have been released.
The Marion County Health Department has been notified of 16 new positive COVID-19 cases. Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says five of the new cases are community spread and 11 are household/close contacts to confirmed cases. The new cases range in age from a male in his 20s to a male and two females in their 80s.
There are now 151 active cases, including 15 in the hospital of which two age on ventilators. The health department is also reporting five positive cases of COVID-19 were cleared Wednesday to leave isolation. A total of 519 have now recovered.
Clinton County is reporting 22 new positive cases. The total on home isolation is now 192 with seven hospitalizations. 1,129 have recovered.
Clay County reports an outbreak continues at a long term care facility where 23 new positive cases were reported on Tuesday in addition to four other new cases. Three of the new community cases had exposure to a close contact while the four is considered Community Spread.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting six new cases ranging in age from a female in her 20s to a female in her 60s. There are now 103 active cases and 612 who have been released from isolation.
Washington County is reporting seven new confirmed cases since Monday. They range in age from a male in his 30s to a male in his 90s. There are now 17 active cases and one who is hospitalized. 223 have now been released from isolation.
The Fayette County Health Department reports ten new confirmed cases ranging in age from the 20s to 50s. There are now 68 active cases. There is one new outbreak in a congregate living facility and two new confirmed cases related to a neighboring county congregate living facility outbreak.
Wayne County is reporting five new cases on Wednesday ranging in age from a male in his 20s to a male in his 90s. There are currently 55 in isolation at home and six who are hospitalized.
