Raymond “Ed” E. Loyd, 90, of Woodlawn, Illinois, passed away at 6:45 am on October 4, 2020, at Nature Trail Health Care in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Mr. Loyd proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and worked as a Lineman for Illinois Power for many years. Ed loved spending time with his family especially, his grandchildren. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, October 11, 2020, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM with Reverend Don Bullard officiating. Full Military Rites will be held by Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 at Ten Post Oak Cemetery in Keenes, Illinois. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Ed’s honor to the American Heart Association. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. He was born May 19, 1930, in Wayne County, Illinois to the late Leonard and Ruby (Bailey) Loyd. Ed married Goldie Belle (Butler) Loyd on December 26, 1951, and she preceded him in death.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Alberta “Bertie” Palmer of Tacoma, Washington, Patricia “Peggy” Trowbridge and boyfriend, Kirby Laur of Scheller, Illinois, Teresa “Terri” Phillips and husband, John Jr. of Woodlawn, Illinois; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Payne; and son-in-law, Leroy Palmer.
