Dixie L. Brown, age 75 of Carlyle, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Mrs. Brown was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 21, 1948, the daughter of the late Henry and Clara (nee Mahlandt) Hoffman. She married Robert D. Brown on April 20, 1968, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2000.
Dixie is survived by her children – Michelle Brown and special friend Darlene Seiler, Michael Brown and wife Sheila, and Chad Brown; and her grandchildren – Constantino Reyes-Tiburico, Aja Davis, and Dale Davis.
For many years, Dixie worked as a cook for the Carlyle School District. After retirement, her caring and nurturing continued as she volunteered with the Matthew 25 Food Pantry. Dixie was a constant at Immanuel United Church of Christ, where she loved attending services. She also enjoyed reading and being active with the Order of the Eastern Star.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Carlyle Township Cemetery.
