2024 01/27 – Larry Pilman

Larry M. Pilman, age 79, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

He was born May 21, 1944, in Bible Grove, the son of Luther Clinton and Bertha Ethel (Winchester) Pilman. He was united in marriage to Patricia Tackitt on April 19, 2008, in Xenia, and together they have shared 15 wedding anniversaries.

Larry served in the U.S. Army, proudly serving 2 terms overseas in Vietnam. He served in both Europe and Germany and retired as a Master Sergeant. He enjoyed fishing, going out to eat, and finding bargains and treasures at rummage sales and thrift stores. Larry attended Orchardville Church.

He is survived by his wife: Patty Pilman of Xenia; 3 sons: Joe (Bonnie) Pilman of Swansboro, North Carolina, Tony (Kelly) Pilman of St. Paul, Minnesota, Clint (Carmen) Pilman of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; 2 daughters: Serena (David) Grossnickel of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Sureya (Damon) Maddox of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; 2 stepchildren: Angie (Pete) Robinson of Farina and Kathy (Mike) Frank of Paris; grandchildren: Andy Pilman, Anthony Pilman, Angelica Jo Pilman, Elvis Pilman, Calvin Pilman, Deigo Grossnickel, Kalena Pilman, Joey Fender, Jessica Robinson, Trenton Frank, and Garrett Frank; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson: Charles P. Reynolds; and a sister: Connie Sue Pilman.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Military funeral honors will be presented at 11 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Joseph’s Indian School, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
