Norma Jean Lisenbey, 90, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at Odin Healthcare Center.
She was born March 13, 1933, in Iuka, the daughter of Edwin Paul Garges and Mary Inez (Hall) Garges. She married James Taylor Lisenbey in Salem on March 21, 1956, and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 67 years, James Lisenbey of Mt. Vernon, Norma is also survived by her daughter: Paula Graham and husband Scott of Mt. Vernon; one brother: Phillip Dwaine Butter and Shirley of DuBois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Mary Garges, a brother: Billy Harting, and two sisters: Shirley Berger and Mary Louise Garges.
Norma was a member of the Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and she followed the teaching of the Lord throughout the years. She loved living on the Army Base in North Carolina with her husband. Norma was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the L.R. Osborn and Son Funeral Home in Kell with Pastor Stacy Tate officiating. Burial will follow at the Panther Fork Cemetery in Texico. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Panther Fork Cemetery Association and will be accepted at the L.R. Osborn and Son Funeral Home P.O.
