Dolores Ann McCann, 86, passed away at 6:29 am on January 9, 2024, at her home in Mt Vernon.
She was born October 8, 1937, to the late Olen and Edith (Morlan) Eater. She married David L. McCann on August 1, 1957, who preceded her in death. Grandson Christopher McCann, who loved and was dearly loved by his mamaw also preceded her in death.
Dolores is survived by her son Michael McCann and wife Mary Ann of Daytona Beach, FL, and brother Jim Eater of Mt. Vernon, IL. Mamaw, as they called her, was also survived by her grandson Timothy Koch and wife Melissa of Woodlawn; and their children Zerek, Zelena, and Zaylor Koch, great-granddaughter Lilah Jean McCann of Salem born to Chris McCann and her mother Annie Tucker. Annie’s daughter Annabelle, Annie’s future husband Matthew King, and his son Sleven King all of Salem and a special part of our family.
Other much-loved family members: niece, Julie Eater, niece, Jamie Eater and husband, Rick Parrish, great-nieces, Jessie Parrish and Allie Parrish, great-niece, Dori Desjaen, and great-great-niece, Arya Abel.
Whether you knew her as DeeDee, Delo, Dolores, Mamaw, or some other nickname, everyone who knew her loved her and will feel the emptiness her loss leaves behind. God grant us all sweet memories and peace knowing she is with you, Lord Jesus.
Fly high, Mom, fly home to your Savior and to those who have gone before and have already met you at the gates with open, loving arms. Until we meet again.
A Private Family Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to Shriners Hospital of St. Louis, MO and can be left with Hughey Funeral Home.
