A 32-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for possession of a stolen motorcycle but has a chance to wipe out the sentence through successful completion of drug court.
Marion County State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth says the negotiated plea with Steven Bryant is unusual and is not something the drug court is looking to do with each new person entered into the program. Normally, a person placed on drug court has to plead guilty to the charges they are facing, but a sentencing hearing is held if they have their drug court probation revoked.
As part of the plea, Bryant waived his ability to present any evidence in opposition to a petition to revoke his drug court probation.
Restitution in the case has been reserved.
Bryant is scheduled to begin drug court on Friday.
