Frank E. Huston, Sr., 88, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:42 am December 31, 2023, at his home. He was born August 8, 1935, in Mount Vernon to the late Emery and Opal (Hayes) Huston.
Frank married Anita (McKinney) Huston on November 14, 1952, at Reverend Roy Beal’s home. In addition to his beloved wife of 71 years, Frank is survived by his daughter, Debra Pitchford and husband, Kenny; son, Frank Huston, Jr. and wife, Vicki; grandchildren, Candy Kaufman, Crystal Alexander, Francisca Summers and husband, Josh, Ryan Huston, and Brandon Huston and wife, Sally; great-grandchildren, Shane Heck and significant other, Maranda Emerson, Caleb Webb, Victoria Sledge, Douglas Alexander, American Alexander, Cruz Lilly, Adam Huston, Emory Summers, Emmah Summers, and Emersyn Summers; great-great-grandchildren, Cale Heck, Tinsley Rae Heck, and Kingston Thomas; step-grandchildren, Taylor Corbett and husband, Jacob, River Corbett, Aubrey Corbett, Leah Hamlin, Dae Roberts, Taylen Hails, and Trey Hails; and siblings, Jerry Huston and wife, Carolyn and Nell Petty and husband, Lendell.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Joseph Mark Huston; and siblings, Flora Ellen Trotter, Margaret Allen Benson, Barbara Sue Poole and husband, Stan, Richard Huston and wife, Betty, and Everett Huston and wife, Marlene.
Frank served as a pastor for many years: 24 1/2 years at Sugar Camp Baptist Church and 24 years at Lighthouse Baptist Church. He owned and operated A and F Plumbing for many years. Frank will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Russell Gaston officiating. Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Frank’s honor to Lighthouse Baptist Church.
