Arthur Eater, 100, passed away at Oak Hill Assisted Living Center in Angier, North Carolina on Monday, December 18, 2023.
Born in Illinois, he was the son of the late James J. Eater and Mary J. (Pace) Eater. Arthur was married to Bonnadine (Phelps) Eater for 79 years until her passing in 2022.
Arthur worked in heating and air conditioning and as a sheet metal worker at Eater Sheet Metal in Mount Vernon, Illinois. In 1996, he and Bonnadine moved to North Carolina to be close to family. Arthur and Bonnadine were members of Fellowship Baptist Church of Willow Springs, North Carolina. Arthur is survived by his daughter, Patricia Mooney (Rick) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Tyson Mooney (Meredith) of Durham, North Carolina Melissa Heath (Travis) of Dunn, North Carolina, and Caleb Mooney (Jana) of Hickory, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Zoeyjane Marie Gerraghty, Alexander Remi Canales, Hendrix Rane Canales, and Luke Arthur Mooney. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his brothers, Keith Eater, Olen Eater, and Marlin Eater; and a sister, Mildred Eater.
