A one-of-a-kind vendor truck is making visits throughout the area, not selling food, but trying to find homes for surrendered and homeless cats.

Owner Nikki Timberlake launched Pawsotively Scrumptious, LLC earlier this year after buying the truck from a person with similar plans in California.

“We are the only mobile cafe in the United States.  Most are brick-and-mortar.  The truck is a 31-foot truck with a glassed-in room inside where the cats are free to play with you.  We do ask for a $5 donation from those who come aboard the truck to help feed the cats and get them spayed and neutered.    All of our cats are fully vetted at the time they are adopted.  If they are too little for that and you want to be a foster parent, you can do a foster-to-adopt.  You can take care of them until they are big enough to be vetted.  Then we take them back and get them vetted.  If you want to adopt them at that time you can.”

Pawsotively Scrumptious is a non-profit organization and is available to appear at both public and private events for those who would like to support their mission.

Those interested in learning more can go to the Pawsotively Scrumptious Facebook page or by contacting Timberlake at (618) 899-0169.

Timberlake says Cat Cafes first became popular in Asia and later spread to the United States.  She says there are a number of them in the St. Louis area, but all are centered around coffee shops with the cats being available to play but not to adopt.

Timberlake recently showed off the mobile truck to Salem Chamber of Commerce members during a ribbon cutting welcoming her organization to the chamber.
