Centralia city officials have announced that residents can now sign up to receive critical communications and emergency alerts through a new communications system.
Everbridge is being offered in a partnership with Marion County to communicate alerts to citizens and businesses during emergencies and other events.
The alerts will include weather updates, road closures, facility closures, water utility maintenance, and snow removal updates. Individuals can also choose to receive communications about city events and other announcements.
Messages will be sent to residents on their preferred method of contact, including cell phone, SMS, email, and more to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information.
Everbridge allows citizens to self-register, provide contact information, or opt out of certain types of alerts. Residents who are currently using the Nixle system will receive a notification to update and register with Everbridge.
Residents are encouraged to register immediately to receive these alerts at: https://member.everbridge.net/index/305943405396347
City Manager Kory Smith says the city remains dedicated to safeguarding public safety, fostering community awareness, and enhancing emergency response capabilities.
