Salem Police say two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at North Broadway and Allmon Street Tuesday morning.
Police reports indicate a car driven by a 17-year-old female juvenile from Salem was eastbound on Allmon Street approaching Broadway. She told police her brakes failed causing her car to shoot into traffic on North Broadway. The juvenile’s car collided with a southbound vehicle on North Broadway driven by 69-year-old Dr. Creighton Engel of Country View Drive in Salem. Police say Engel tried to avoid the crash, but the juvenile’s car hit the front end of his car and pushed it up into a yard on the east side of Broadway.
Both the juvenile driver and a 15-year-old male juvenile passenger from Salem were transported to Salem Township Hospital for treatment. Dr. Engel declined hospital treatment.
The juvenile was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash occurred at 7:56 on Tuesday morning.
