The City of Centralia plans to utilize part of a grant for downtown improvements for the placement of lighting that will span the city streets.
The lights are bistro lights that will connect into the buildings utilizing an anchor system and guide wires.
A resolution to allow City Manager Kory Smith to sign the first agreements with property owners to allow the anchor system and guide wires to be connected to their buildings will come before the city council Monday night. Eleven of the agreements are with building owners n the 100 block of East Broadway, another six in the 200 block of East Broadway and one apiece in the 100 blocks of North and South Locust Street.
The Centralia City Council Monday night will also be asked to approve a lease to purchase agreement with D.D.S. Office Systems Incorporated for twelve new Mobile Data Computers for the police department. The total cost of the five year agreement is $87,850, with the city able to purchase the computers after the five years for $1. Police Chief Christopher Locke noted at the last meeting the current computers are outdated and can no longer be updated.
The council will be asked to approve a $12,000 forgivable loan agreement from TIF #3 to Roger Campbell to make façade improvements to the former radio station building at 302 South Poplar Street. Campbell says the work will replace deteriorating material to provide for a fresh/clean look that should last 20 to 30 years. The grant cannot exceed 50-perdcent of the building face improvements.
The council meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
