Water and sewer rates are going up in Wamac.

The Wamac Board approved an increase in the minimum water bill of 2,000 gallons per month of $1.08 a month.   The minimum sewer rate will increase by $1.74 cents a month.   For a user of 5,000 gallons a month, the combined increase will be $4.44 a month.

For out-of-town water customers, the minimum bill will go up $2.24 cents a month and the increase for someone using 5,000 gallons a month will increase $3.71 a month.

The increase will take effect with the next bill and follows an increase in rates from the City of Centralia.
