The Marion County Youth Livestock Auction at the Marion County Fairgrounds Wednesday night was a record setter.
There was a record number of 4-H members who participated, with 95 auctioning off their animals. That’s up from 21 last year as the 4-H program sees a big increase in participation coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Area businesses also bid a record amount to purchase the animals at $145,225.
In addition, local businesses and supporters donated another $7,650 to the Marion County 4-H Foundation for their projects.
