The Salem City Council Monday will be asked to approve two new activities.
Councilman Craig Morton has convinced city officials to hold a ‘Pooch Plunge’ for dogs on the final day of the pool season. There will be limited participation and fees collected to participate. Proceeds will go to Animal Control.
Michelle Barbee is asking for permission to close off the municipal parking lot on the 200 block of West McMackin Street for a sidewalk chalk contest in conjunction with the Historic Downtown Farmer’s Market on Saturday, August 12th with a rain date of August 13th. Each contestant or team will be using a 10 by 10-foot square space for their art design.
Finance Director Keli Roth has provided an amendment to the fiscal year 2023 budget outlining expenditures that exceeded the budget and is providing some explanation of each item.
The council will consider a two-year $39,816 per year contract with Calgon Carbon to clean filters at the water treatment plant and replace the carbon.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
