Five fire departments fought a fire that destroyed a trailer and shed used for storage in the 12,000 block of North Miller Lake Road southeast of Texico Thursday morning.
Jefferson Fire officials say both buildings were heavily involved in fire upon their arrival around six am. A home owned by a family member was exposed to the fire but did not sustain any damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Mt. Vernon, Kell, Bluford, and Wayne City assisted Jefferson Rural at the scene while Salem and Sesser Firemen stood by at the Jefferson Fire station in the event of another fire.
Jefferson Fire says they were quickly able to get water on the fire and used a water shuttle to provide firemen with an ongoing supply of water.
Firemen were on the scene for about two hours.
