Glenn Catron, 95, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 7:53 am May 27, 2023, at his residence in Bluford.
He was born February 27, 1928, in Wayne City, Illinois to the late Grover B. and Sadie (Beardin) Catron. Glenn married Betty DeJournett on November 25, 1948, at Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Keenes, Illinois. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on September 27, 2019.
Glenn is survived by his children, Dwight Catron and wife, Becky of Belle Rive, Illinois, DeWayne Catron of Bluford; grandchildren, Larry Catron and wife, Michelle of Benton, Illinois, Jessica Summers and husband, Dennis of Florida, Amanda Robb and husband, Stephen of Kinmundy, Illinois, Tracy King and husband, Shane of Kinmundy, Leslie Brown and husband, Jason of Wayne City, Jay Catron and wife, Kristin of Mount Vernon, Katie Wilkinson and husband Kyle of Farina, Illinois, Nick Catron and wife, Katelyn of Ina, Illinois, and Keith Catron and wife, Charmayne of Wheeler, Illinois; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lela Mae Duncan of Centralia, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Betty, Glenn was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Adeleigh Grace; three brothers, and two sisters.
Glenn was a farmer his entire life and a member of East Hickory Hill Church. He was a wonderful son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mateer-Davis Cemetery in Wayne County, Illinois with Reverend Jerry Montgomery officiating.
