Memorial Day Services set in both Salem and Centralia

Both Salem and Centralia will have Memorial Day Services on Monday.

Salem’s service will be at the Veterans Memorial at East Lawn Cemetery at 11 Monday morning hosted by the Salem American Legion.  The speaker will be retired US Marine and Mission Salem member Mike Gasperini.  The program will also feature music by the Kaskaskia River Brass, the singing of the National Anthem by William Burge, the placing of the wreath by Jenifer Burge and the Invocation by Paul Womack.  The Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion and the Legion Riders will all participate.

The Memorial Day Service in Centralia will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park at eleven am.  The Centralia VFW Post 2055 will host this year’s event to remember veterans who lost their lives fighting for our country.  The Keynote address will be given by Commander William Adams, Retired US Navy.   The program includes the Presentation of the Flag, a Flag Folding Ceremony, and the Laying of the Wreaths at the sacred shrine.  The program will conclude with the Three Volley Salute and the Sounding of Taps.
