William J. Smith, 75, of Benton, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.
He was born June 13, 1947, in Chicago, the son of Sessel Smith and Esther (Kennedy) Smith.
William is survived by his six children: Katherine Smith, Lori Smith, Tammy Smith, Jeff Smith, Jamie Gostowski, and Shelly Lampley; two sisters: Phyllis Davis and Mary Bretzman; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
William served in the U.S. Army. For many years, he worked as a Truck Driver.
