2023 05/25 – Verna Marie Hixenbaugh

Verna Marie Hixenbaugh, 87, of Centralia passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Centralia Manor in Centralia.

She was born on January 26, 1936, the daughter of Glen and Ida (Allen) Perkins in Bluford. She married the love of her life, Allen Hixenbaugh on September 21, 1971, and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2020.

Survivors include her daughters, Nita Barrow Zimmerman of Centralia, and Jeannie (Hixenbaugh) Jones and husband Rick of Walnut Hill; grandchildren, Jeff Murphy, FayAnne Barrow, Amy Green and husband Richard, Clayton Pruett and wife Tiffany, Austin Pruett, Keith Jones and wife Abbey, Elizabeth Zimmerman, Christanna Brown and husband Greg; great-grandchildren, Janel McGahn, Andrew Murphy, Brenna Murphy, Jory, Chance and Garrett Barrow, Teoné Jones, Tremain Mashburn and wife Tina, Malik and Charles Wilson, Chloe, Vance & Ellie Pruett, Gauge & Boedi Jones, Jayleigh, Jacelynn and Hunter Brown, and Drew; great-great-grandchildren, Royalty, Johanna, Stella, Maddox Bausley, Darrius Gaters, Tristan Gaters, and Leia and Allyna Mashburn.

Along with her husband of 49 years, Allen Hixenbaugh, Verna was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred “Sissy” Bowerman; brothers, Gaylon and Robert “Bobbie” and Donald Perkins; children, Jamie Wagoner Spenner, James Buddy Barrow, and Jody Perkins Mashburn.

Verna was a lovely lady with a beautiful soul. She enjoyed time spent outside, peacefully watching the birds while sitting on her swing. Verna had a green thumb and would grow vibrant flower gardens, proud of the results of her labor. She loved her family deeply and couldn’t stop smiling during time spent making memories with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids. Verna will be deeply missed by all, but never forgotten.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Clayton Pruett officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Verna’s honor to Pregnancy Care Center in Centralia.
