2023 05/26 – Randy Mustread

Randy Mustread passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, in Centralia at the age of 41.

He was born on July 9, 1981, in Centralia. He married Jill (Verble) Lee Mustread on December 23, 2021.

Left to spread his stories and memories are his dad: David Newcomb of Richview; wife: Jill Mustread of Centralia; his two daughters: Haylee and Hydee Mustread both of Centralia; step-children: Danielle Bradley of Rantoul, Cedric Meadows of Connecticut, and Trenton Lee of Walnut Hill; four step-grandchildren; three brothers: Jim Newcomb and Heather of Ashley, Joe Newcomb and Chrissy of Centralia, and John Newcomb and special friend Kayla of Richview; two sisters: Julie Brake and special friend Preston of Richview and Jessie Bone and John of Centralia; grandmother: Mary Myers of Mt. Vernon; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends, co-workers, and students.He was preceded in death by his mother: Jeanette “Busha” Newcomb and his best friend/ bonus dad: Cliff Christian.Randy graduated from Ashley Grade School in 1996 and from Centralia High School in 2001. During his high school days, Mr. Coe his welding teacher, had changed Randy’s life as a student. He earned his Associate of Arts Degree in Arts and Sciences and Welding and Technology from Kaskaskia College.

In 2008 after Mr. Coe retired, Randy achieved his dream of becoming the Welding Teacher at Centralia High School. He was a very trusted mentor to so many students over the 15 years he was at the high school. He taught life lessons and gave his full support to everyone. He loved the “tough” kids because he understood their struggle. In 2020 he received the Dual Credit Faculty of the Year from Kaskaskia College.Randy was an expert outdoorsman. You could find him fishing, hunting, or just sitting in a chair admiring the world’s beauty. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed setting targets up in the backfield for target practice. Randy loved his daughters and his family. He will be missed!Randy left a legacy.A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 26, 2023, at 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Haylee and Hydee’s College Fund and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, who is honored to be of service to Randy’s Family.
