2023 05/12 – Vivian Irene Wood

Vivian Irene Wood, 71, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 1:00 pm on May 4, 2023, at home with her family by her side.

She was born June 27, 1951, in Mount Vernon to the late Earl and Ora (Burke) Warner. Vivian married James “Woody” Wood on October 6, 1973, in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with nearly 50 years of marriage.

In addition to her beloved husband, Vivian is survived by her children, Kelly McMillen and husband, Andy of Mount Vernon and Chris Wood and wife, Michelle of Wildwood, Missouri; grandchildren, Payton McMillen, Addison McMillen, Alexis Wood, and Jacob Wood; brother, Wilburn Warner and wife, Bonnie of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her siblings, Barbara Johnson, Maggie Lewis, Kenny Warner, and Don Warner.

Vivian worked for District 80 for many years. She was a past member of the PTO and Junior Womens Club. She was very active in community affairs, as well. Vivian was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. She cherished the time she shared with her sister’s group and golf friends. Most of all, Vivian loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

A Greeting of Family and Friends will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Victor Long officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made in Vivian’s honor to SSM Hospice or Mount Vernon Township High School Foundation.
