Patricia Ann “Patti” Harnden, age 78, of Centralia, Illinois, peacefully passed away at 12:40 A.M. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond Heights, Missouri. She was born on January 31, 1945, in Germany at Ramstein Air Force Base. She was the daughter of Ernest and Haddie Elizabeth Patterson. She married Larry Sherman Harnden on June 23, 1995, in Salem, Illinois, and he was her Champion and The love of her life! He survives her in Centralia, Illinois.
In addition to her loving husband of 27 years, Patti is survived by her little dog, Skippy, a 12-year-old white Maltese, whom she loved dearly; her loving family, one daughter, Debbie Gunst of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Joseph and Jessie; several great-grandchildren; sister, Deanna Patterson of Washington State; and brothers-in-law, Terry L. Harnden and wife Debbie of Winchester, Tennessee, and Gary L. Harnden of Sandoval, Illinois.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Patterson and Haddie Patterson; and sister, Janice.
Patti was of the Christian faith. She always had a smile, was a caring person, and never met a stranger. She enjoyed reading a good mystery book and watching action and adventure movies, especially her soap operas including “Days Of Our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless.” Earlier in life, Patti was a Champion Clogging Dancer and enjoyed riding Barrel Racing Horses.
Patti retired from the Central Supply Department at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois, with 7 years of service. She formerly was employed in the Cosmetics and Jewelry department at F.W. Woolworth’s in Centralia, Illinois, while also working as a cashier at Blue Goose Liquor Store in Wamac, Illinois, for 4 years. She was also a production line employee at Littelfuse in Centralia, Illinois, for 10 years until it closed. Patti attended Kaskaskia College and graduated from East Saint Louis High School. She lived most of her life in Centralia, Illinois, and enjoyed the small-town lifestyle.
It was the wish of Mrs. Patricia Ann Harnden to leave this world quietly with no public visitation. She will be missed as she deeply touched the hearts of those who knew her! Inurnment will take place at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, Illinois, at a later date.
