Bonnie J. Wimberly, 87, of Salem passed away at 5:58 am, Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem, Illinois.

Bonnie was born on October 2, 1935, in Kinmundy, Illinois, the daughter of Paul Harvey and Jessie Francis (Anderson) Gray. She married Jarold Richard Wimberly on July 29, 1954, at the Kinmundy Christian Church in Kinmundy and they shared 36 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 6, 1990.

Bonnie worked for the Brown Shoe Company in Salem for many years. She loved to crochet, do word searches, and watch Andy Griffith. She also enjoyed going to the Thursday night singing events in Kinmundy when she was able. Bonnie was a member of the New Life Church in Salem. Bonnie loved to attend church anytime she was able.

Bonnie is survived by her 2 sons: Tony (Barbie) Wimberly of Kinmundy, Paul (Michelle) Wimberly of Salem; 7 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by a brother: Jerry (Millie) Gray of Central City; sister: Brenda Felter of Harristown, Illinois; and by many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother: Duane Gray.

Funeral services to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2023, at the McGriff Funeral Home in Kinmundy with Bill Cash officiating. Burial will follow at the Paradise Cemetery, in Salem, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Friday morning at the funeral home where friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bonnie’s memory to the New Life Church in Salem, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
