2023 02/12 – Norma Jean Ford

Norma Jean Ford, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:05 am February 9, 2023, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.

She was born April 15, 1933, in Dix, Illinois to the late Lester and Audrey (Tate) Bond. Norma married Virgil Lee Ford on December 2, 1956, in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

In addition to her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Norma is survived by sons, Brian Ford and wife, Rhonda of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Rodney Ford and wife, Pamela of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Joyce Ford of Olney, Illinois; grandchildren, Adam Ford and wife, Katelynn of Dix, Illinois and Landon Ford of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-granddaughter, Izzabella Ford of Dix, Illinois; brothers, Harry Bond of Dix, Illinois, Ed Bond and wife, Marie of Dix, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her daughters, Debra Lee Ford and Paula S. Ford; brother, June Bond; sisters, Mary Lou Bray and Rena Pierce; sisters-in-law, Dona Bond and Darlene Bond; and brother-in-law, Calvin Pierce.

Norma was the owner and operator of the Sewing Basket in Mount Vernon. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and was a very patient person. Norma enjoyed doing puzzles and attending her grandchildren’s events. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend David Shores officiating. Interment will follow at Wolf Prairie Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Norma’s honor to Residential Hospice.
