The Illinois Department of Revenue is reminding taxpayers to check if they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
The Illinois Department of Revenue Spokesperson Maura Kownacki says the credit is for low to moderate wage workers, and the process starts with your Federal Income Tax Return.
“Tax payers eligible for the federal EIPC also automatically qualify for the Illinois credit. Despite that last year more than 70,000 Illinois taxpayers claimed a federal credit without claiming the Illinois credit leaving over $25-million unclaimed.”
For the last tax year, the credit ranged from $560 to nearly $7000. You can learn more online at tax.illinois.gov.
