Mary Mae Beach, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or the Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
Mary was born on May 4th, 1934 in East Fork Township, Illinois to Theodore and Gladys Orrell who preceded her in death. She married Carl John Yardley, then later divorced, followed by Bert Martin; and they later divorced. She married Officer William ‘Bill’ Beach on June 1, 1976, in Centralia and he preceded her in death on August 4, 2005. Mary is survived by her 3 sons: John Yardley and wife Melody of Sandoval, Bob Yardley and wife Cathy of Centralia, and Barrie Yardley and wife Susan of Plato, Mo; daughter Jennifer Newman and George Wilkerson of Alma, Il; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brother William ‘Bill’ Orrell of Centralia, and many nieces and nephews. Mary enjoyed playing the piano and accordion, quilting, and sewing and was a former Moose member. She was known to be slightly sarcastic by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Shirley Yardley, brothers: Melvin Orrell and Charles ‘Bob’ Orrell, and grandchild April Yardley. Funeral Services for Mary Mae Beach will be held on Monday, January 9th, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia before the time of service on Monday. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In memory of Mary, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Greenview Christian School, or Shop with a Cop and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, Illinois 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Beach family.
