Mark Allen Gutzler, age 70, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, January 2, 2023, at his home in Centralia, Illinois.

He was born on September 11, 1952, in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Clyde Lindsey and Wilma Martha (Krietemeyer) Gutzler.

Mark is survived by his loving family, sister, Martha L. Mathis and husband Charles of Walnut Hill, Illinois; nephew, Brian D. Mathis and fiancée Jennifer Smith of Vandalia, Illinois; and great-nephews, Nick Mathis and girlfriend Paige Kreitner of Bartelso, Illinois, and Jake Mathis at college in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Gutzler and Wilma Gutzler.

Mark was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia, Illinois, where he was baptized and received his confirmation. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Mark was a great collector of baseball cards, DVD movies, vinyl records, and 8-track tapes. He enjoyed watching movies and all sporting games, including baseball games and football games. He would read seven newspapers a day to keep up with his love of sports. Mark liked to travel to Las Vegas to play the nickel slots and bet on the horse races in Cahokia, Illinois. He loved to walk to every place he needed to go

After graduating from high school, Mark began working for Siegler Heating Company in Centralia, Illinois. He worked on the fudge floor at Hollywood Brand Candy / Leaf International in Centralia, Illinois, for twenty-two years. He was then a storeroom manager for Gilster Mary Lee for six years, and Pinnacle Foods for several years, and retired from Conagra Foods in Centralia, Illinois, at the age of sixty-two. He graduated from Centralia High School’s “Class of 1970” and attended Trinity Lutheran School in Centralia, Illinois. He lived his whole life in Centralia, Illinois.

It was the wish of Mr. Mark Allen Gutzler to leave this world quietly with no public visitation. Arrangements are in the care of Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.
