Joyce D. Lowery, 83, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 8:14 pm on January 3, 2023, in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
She was born May 17, 1939, in Dahlgren, Illinois to the late Paul and Irene (Witters) Sodders. Joyce married Mark Lowery on September 29, 1961. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 22, 2016.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Huston, and Lisa Breeze and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Ryan Huston, Brandon Huston, Cole Breeze, and Caylie Breeze; sisters, Karen Burwell and husband, Ancil, Dolores Fally and husband, Larry; brother, Jack Sodders and wife, Saundra; sister-in-law, Nancy Sodders; special friend and caregiver, Alice Shell; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Sodders.
Joyce worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company and Crossroads Community Hospital. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon. Joyce loved her home and enjoyed tending to her yard. She cherished the time shared with her family and friends. Joyce was the best mom and grandma ever. She will be deeply missed. There will be no public services held at this time. Inurnment will take place at a later date at East Hickory Hill Cemetery in Bluford, Illinois.
