2022 12/27 – Edna May Pennington

Edna May Pennington, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:46 am November 16, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

She was born May 4, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Arthur and Edith Violet (Erikson) Johnson. Edna married James William Pennington on June 14, 1957, in Elmhurst, Illinois. There were blessed with sixty-one years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 4, 2018.

Edna is survived by her children, Nancy Jensen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, David Eric Pennington and wife, Nancy of Richardson, Texas; Susan Louise Pennington and David Bussema of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Theodore Eric Jenson and wife, Catherine of Rochdale, Queensland, Australia, Karl Michael Jensen and wife, Kimberly of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Kirsten Jensen Wynne and husband, David of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Neil Jensen of Dunmore, West Virginia, Cassandra Carstens of Momence, Illinois, James William Pennington of Saint Petersburg, Russia, Nicole Michelle Pennington of Savannah, Georgia, Victor Luis Gasquet of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Michael Reed of Carbondale, Illinois, Kaia Michelle Jensen of Australia, Zane Jensen of Australia, Jack Maverick Jensen of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Sawyer Grey Jensen of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Seth Carstens of Momence, Illinois, Axl Carstens of Momence, Illinois; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Martin of Austin, Texas; and brother-in-law, Thomas Pennington of Copperas Cove, Texas.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by her son, William James Pennington.

Edna worked as a library technician and then as a speech pathologist. She was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church. She was a member of Cedarhurst Center for the Arts Fiber Club and loved the grounds. Edna enjoyed needlework, weaving, scrapbooking and will be greatly missed.
