2022 12/20 – Betty Jean Justice

Betty Jean Justice, 95, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 am December 13, 2022, at her residence.

She was born December 26, 1926, in Dix, Illinois to the late Jesse Clark and Lola Belle (Davis) Knauss. Betty married Fred Justice, Jr. in January 1945. They were blessed with many years of marriage before he preceded her in death.

Betty is survived by children, Janet Garretson and husband, Richard of Mount Vernon, John Justice and wife, Frankie of Mount Vernon, James Justice and wife, Cathy of Nashville, Tennessee, Jeffrey Justice of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Jay Justice of Lewisville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jessica Hall and husband, Brett, Jennifer Kelly and husband, Benjamin, William Garretson, Mark Justice, Aaron Justice and wife, Alicia, Joshua Justice and wife, Heather, Stephanie Wolfe and husband, Gregg, Jessie Keegan; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Anne Cantrell; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Jill Justice; granddaughter, Doris Louise Garretson; and grandson, Sean Justice. Betty worked many years as a retail clerk at Jackson Jewelers in Mount Vernon. She was a long-time member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Betty was a loving mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Alan Smith officiating.  Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to Logan Street Baptist Church.
