George Patton, 70, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on December 9, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born July 16, 1952, in Chicago Heights, Illinois to the late George and Odell (Wilder) Patton.
George is survived by his wife of 39 years, Erie V. Patton of Mount Vernon, Illinois; children, Tracy Stone, Stacey (Dirk) Stone – Triplett, Monique (Eric) Stuckey, Moneka Campbell, Domeka Melvin, Brishanta (Monte) Lesure, Charod Patton, E. Avantra Patton, and Kadesia Patton. Siblings, Diane (Jesse) Adams, Walter (Wanda) Alexander, Cheryl Taylor, Sabrina (Sam) Haymer, Paul Turner, Harriet Turner, Nicole Turner, and Terrance Hooper; and special cousin, Bobby Turner. Fifteen grandchildren four great children and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George, and Odell (Wilder) Patton and Fred Turner, son-in-law, Terrill Campbell; great-grandchild, Cailynn Moore; and siblings, Larry Reece, and Lynn Turner.
George worked as a manufacturer laborer for 56 years. He loved his family unconditionally and enjoyed keeping HIS cars spotless. He was conscientious about his clothes and very particular about his shoes. George was very charismatic and always met you with a family and quick wit.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sugar Camp Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with Reverend Ronald Johnson, Eulogist and Elder Allen E. Rudd officiating.
