Marion County residents currently have an opportunity to sign up to pay their 2022 property taxes due in 2023 in monthly installments.
Marion County Treasurer Gary Purcell says the plan is optional and there is no charge to participate.
Anyone is eligible to participate in the new Prepayment Plan providing there are no delinquent taxes due. If you were enrolled last year, there is no need to sign up again unless you would like to add or remove a property from the program.
Purcell says if your property taxes are escrowed by a financial institution there is no need to sign up for the program.
The deadline for application is January 8th.
Payments will be based on the 2021 Real Estate Tax on your property.
After you have completed the application process you will be mailed a letter confirming your participation in the new Prepayment Plan program, as well as instructions for making your payments.
The monthly payments will be due by the 25th of each month, with the first payment on January 25th.
Financial institutions will not accept payments in the prepayment plan, nor will you be able to make the prepayment plan payments on the internet or by credit card. Payment must be made by mail or at the courthouse or in the drop box located on the west side of the courthouse.
If you wish to sign up, applications are available in the treasurer’s office on the first floor of the Marion County Courthouse from eight to four Monday through Friday or by calling (618) 548-3858.
